Read Only Memory (2004)

Read Only Memory 1.2 /2.0/2.1 Installation 2004/2005

scanning lasersystems 630-680nm (red) used one-way contactlenses

The artist's own used contactlenses are being scanned by two moving lasersystems. The monochromatic light gets irritated by organic sedimentation combined with mechanic deformation of the lens. An abstract self-transforming but extremely precise pattern is being projected.

It seems that the recorded memory saved during the day while wearing the lenses is being read and restored in an abstract but poetic way.

The contact lens is altered in funktion and transformes from a prosthetic device to its opposite- a unique object with authentic optical and visual information, generated by the contact and interaction with an organic body.
