Personality Stereotype (2002)

I believe that all we know and use personality stereotypes--simplified ideas about other people--because we never really get to know one another. All we know is how we see them which is always a stereotype. A stereotype can be one person who belongs to an imaginary group to which we will never find any other members ( like "Maria is my best girlfriend") or it can simply be a large group of people divided out from the general population by gender, age, nationality or ethnicity. Some personality stereotypes are "bad" and some are "good," some are complex and personal while some are part of the collective. Why I consider this project an "art piece" and not a simple data collection is because of the way it's constructed--the way that information is acculumated and added by site visitors.
