Full Description
"The Vanndemar Memex or Lara Croft Stripped Bare by her Assassins, Even" (www.memexengine.com), has been exhibited in the Walker Art Center's Art Entertainment Network (2000) and ZKM\'s Net_Condition (1999) curated by Peter Weibel. The Memex is a web work involving distributive narrative, interactivity and various kinds of agency.
A ubiquitous network teems with \'bodies\', \'ghosts\', \'taps\', \'taps of taps\', \'assassins\', \'echoes\'. Your memex plugs you into a transitive landscape where you are asked to seamlessly transpose your \'self\' through the play of agency. In this post proximal world; who is speaking to you, who is giving you directives, who are you - and just whom might you be working for, who is the agent of whom? In this vast space of agency, identikits and remote operation, who operates whom?
