David Pescovitz: MonaScientists used a new algorithm to analyze the emotion reflected in Mona Lisa's smile. New Scientist reports that the software, developed by the University of Amsterdam and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign, measures lip curvature and eye wrinkles and then rates the face based on six emotions. Apparently, Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa was 83 percent happy, 9 percent disgusted, 6 percent fearful and 2 percent angry.
