Whether it?s Maya Lin's Vietnam Veterans? Memorial, Richard Serra's Tilted Arc, or the Berlin Wall, both monuments and anti-monuments can easily become loaded markers in broader ideological and cultural conflicts. SF Camerawork is currently seeking works for Monument Recall, a project highlighting work that challenges dominant notions of the monument. The project will be multi-faceted, featuring a physical exhibition, published journal, multimedia CD-ROM and a web-based display of Improbable Monuments -- digital proposals for monuments not likely to be realized.
