streaming media

From your call for artist in residence at rhizome:

"One of the current disadvantages of live and on-demand streaming
media on the Internet (video / audio) is the confined space in which
streaming media applications run."

Here is an interesting Flash solution (but of course it's only audio):

I myslef stream lo-res, fullscreen, dhtml style:

The trick is to modify one's narrative conventions/expectations in
order to find a compelling voice within the confines of this medium.
The bandwidth "problem" thus becomes a welcome opportunity to explore
minimalist/micro narrative. Is it still "video"? Who cares?

Absolutely!
I've recently chatted to a couple of people who said
'You can't do multimedia for a dial up'
I beg to differ.
I love restrictions - like the 5k.org, like Eryk's
'rules'.
If every computer in the world ceased to function
tomorrow the test of all the artists working on the
net would be whether they could still make interesting
art.
best
