Hi Lee,
Why not use this format for the shoot from the hip conversations? It's still public, archived, readable to all, and uncensored. For example, you and I could discuss which is better: Networkism or Meta-ism as you mentioned a while ago. In any case, I don't think it's the format that caused the ebb of discussion. I would bet it's primarily the War on Terror, which is serious business and makes people less free-wheeling, as it should. And also just the business as usual tendencies of people which are a good enough if blah kind of ballast for life.
