Performance Bytes is a two phase performance event using the latest
video conferencing technology and the latest web broadcast software. At
the core of the project is a two hour programmed event including some of
the most innovative performance artists from across Canada. Through the
sponsorship of Bell Canada Trinity Square Video has arranged four sites
across Canada to participate in interactive performances with the use of
Video Conferencing technology. Phase one will have artists from Centre
for Art Tapes in Halifax, EM/Media in Calgary, Western Front in
Vancouver, and Trinity Square Video in Toronto interactively and
collaboratively produce performances that will exploit the potential of
this exciting new medium.
The second phase is a World Wide Web broadcast. As all the performance
information from across Canada is transmitted to the TSV Toronto site it
is then digitized and re-broadcast simultaneously to the rest of the
world using the very latest internet video software provided by the
Toronto based company Skyscape.
