POCHA NOSTRA LAUNCHES NEW SUPER-CHINGON ETHNO-TECHNO ART SITE

www.pochanostra.com
"Ethno-Techno Art for the New Millennium"

According to unknown Tijuana art critic, "It's a
bizarre hybrid of techno-performance, border rave art,
arte conceptual chicano, humour and theory, that will
blow your pinche minds."

Created by a decentered team of cyber-designers from
California, Mexico City, Dartmouth and Barcelona,
under the artistic direction of Guillermo Gomez-Pena
and Kari Hensley, the site includes:

* Info. detailing who Pocha Nostra is and what we do
(a mission statement, project descriptions, bios, and
lots of photos). In "current projects," you'll find
flash animation with descriptions of our
interdisciplinary projects. I.e, clicking on "Califas
2000" you'll see a wild mini-movie with images from
our "rock-tronic Spanglish opera" and hear music from
the actual production.

*Curated by Pocha Nostra staff, the current "Artist
Projects" include, "The Culture Vultures" Gallery
created by Cybrid Rene Garcia, "Grafica Popular" by
Paola Goytortua from Mexico City (check out the
section of Mexican erotic comix), and "Mexotica"
created by the Hopkins Center of Dartmouth University
in collaboration with Gomez-Pena. "Mexotica" is
conceptually based on our infamous "Museum of
Fetishized Identities" interactive performance. Here,
the user is able to create his/her own version of a
high-tech multi-ethnic paper doll and experiment with
hybrid identities and cultural projections. It's puro
"pop reverse anthropology."

* Our on-line Library contains literary archives
including: essays, performance texts, manifestos,
press coverage, a bibliography and videography.

*"Pocha News" our frequently updated e-zine includes
announcements, quotes and news.

* The "Quicktime movie of the month" is a sort of
mini-video festival which presents a selection of our
"Video Graffitis" in-progress.

Like our work, like "the other America" we represent,
the site is constantly changing, expanding and
redefining itself.

Flash animation is required; (if the user does not
already have Flash, the intro page will direct him/her
to a site to download it). Enjoy!

Design team includes: Gomez-Pena, Kari Hensley,
