The internet continues to be a realm defined by its fluid nature.
Unstable and constantly changing audiences, producers and means of
production combine to propagate a multitude of strategies when proposing
and staging curated online projects by artists. Stadium, who have just
launched three new collaborations with Louise Lawler, Clem Paulsen and
Kenneth Goldsmith and Maciej Wisniewski have been evolving a server
space, using the idea of the stadium as a paradigm allowing the visitor
to map his or her sense of The Stadium as container and context for the
site's content. While this is not a new way of forming some sense of
locality on the world wide web, the interface we are currently presented
with at stadium is marked by a refreshing lack of metaphor. There are no
references to an arena or any ancillary spaces that could have easily
served to compartmentalise Stadiumweb's various "departments." Instead
we are presented with a careful, quiet and simply designed
infrastructure allowing for an easy focus to be placed on stadium's
content whether it be contextual essays, messageboards, links or
artwork.
