discussion of its kind about new media ever held in Canada."

Workshop

A four-day workshop that will provide a practical, hand-on opportunity
to explore new media strategies. Participants are encouraged to bring a
new media project proposal with them for development. Presenters will
offer practical instruction in curation, presentation, conservation,
collection, commissioning and audience development.

Symposium

Developed in conjunction with The Banff Centre's Walter Phillips
Gallery, this event provides arts professionals with an opportunity to
discuss and exchange ideas related to the curatorial practice,
collection and conservation of new media. The symposium covers such
themes as the World Wide Web as a creative space, the critical and
marketing environment for new media, data base development, intellectual
property, installation-based interactive works, and resourcing
technologies. It also considers support for creative projects,
commissioning, on- and off-site production, the development of audience
for new media, and the relevance of new forms of distribution and
