The Linguistic Turn--call for submissions

The editors of Why not Sneeze? invite proposals and contributions of
original work for THE LINGUISTIC TURN, a sub-site of language-based art
works.

THE LINGUISTIC TURN seeks to acknowledge the textual dimension of
Internet communication, while at the same time taking advantage of the
advanced graphical, spatial and temporal features that are possible
within the Web environment. We are interested in projects and pieces
that function as autonomous works of art and that emphasise the
materiality of language by making its physical dimension visible though
spatialisation, time or movement. Some precedents would include the work
of Lawrence Weiner, Robert Barry, Douglas Gordon, Joseph Kosuth, etc.

Works should preferably be submitted in HTML format (with or without
Javascript). Photoshop or QuarkXPress (version 3.1) attachments may also
be emailed. Links to existing web works may be submitted, but we are
really more interested in original contributions. Languages other than
English are acceptable, provided that a parallel translation into
English is provided.

deadline for submissions is 31 March 1998
