BlankSleazy Art Meetings (3)

Coming Out to Play

I've always wanted to do something a bit more daring artistically, but my g=
allerist is rather conservative. Sure I've thought about dumping the uptigh=
t neurotic but he's such a good catch and I kinda want to hang on to him an=
d the shows are happening. Still, I need excitement and fresh input and I d=
on't' ever want the gallerist to get any hint that I might be subverting hi=
m, so I turned to the radical 'Agit-Art Service' in hope of finding a discr=
ete underground artist to satisfy my needs.

I didn't bother to put up an ad, I just replied to who had ads up themselve=
s on the 'Agit-Art Service' system. The first one I met was this cool guy w=
ho said he'd be willing to explore non institutionalized concepts with me a=
nywhere. Anywhere I thought…mmm, we had a brief chat online then arranged=
to meet.

He was trendy and obviously quite well known in his field and wanted discre=
tion so we decided to meet at a park on the other side of the city. He was =
a cute looking art activist and nice to be with, but as soon as we met he h=
is mobile rang and it seemed to be from a fellow activist. Him and the pers=
on on the other end of the phone dicussed various art strategies. As we wer=
e getting closer to each other I thought it was of the radical idea of spic=
e up our lives. I undid his reactionary angst and pulled out his agenda.

I proceeded to re-invent Plato's Pharmacy while he talked to his fellow art=
activist friend who seemed female to me, and he had a tough time not letti=
ng her onto what was going on. When he got off the phone he fell to the gro=
und and I continued to make a very close reading of the Phaedrus to him as =
he proclaimed that what I was doing was incredible. Then we did it, I slid =
his crucial Platonic distinction into my pharmakon and we continued to expl=
ore various 'art rule' gibberings that had been implimented by language bas=
ed 'gate keepers', from institutions out in the open.

People off in the distance could see what we were up to and watched us as w=
e pro-actively explored new conceptions with each other, but no one venture=
d near to us. We wound up caught in an endless play of differences, differe=
nces between signs, and differences within signs in the back of his jeep an=
d finally I deconstructed his theoretical load. What an experience, and whe=
n we parted we made a promise to do it again sometime. I think we both are =
going to try and deconstruct a few more culturalized ideas, there are just =
so many to choose from and so little time.
