LiveBox Open Call

LiveBox Gallery Open Call: Notions of Wilderness

Open call for new media projects. “Notions of Wilderness” is an exhibition that will take place at Kasia Kay Art Projects, a commercial gallery located in Chicago’s principal setting for contemporary art galleries. The exhibition will include all mediums, this call is specifically for new media. Proposals must be received by April 1st 2007, the exhibition will take place June 2007.

The word wilderness is derived from the notion of wildness; uncultivated, uninhabited, in other words without human modification. The social and political realities of “nature verses economics” makes defining wilderness in the 21st Century ever more elusive. What is “wild”, what can be called “wilderness”, what is the measure of human “influence” that defines wildness? LiveBox is looking for compelling new media projects exploring aspects of wilderness.
