I wanted to report back on our server issues two weeks ago now. In
brief, it appears our server was compromised through an application
called squirrelmail. Rhizome doesn't store credit
cards or personal information, so what was at stake was our database
of emails and passwords. After considerable evaluation, there is no
evidence that the database was touched. We've hired a 3rd party
company to do a full security audit on our servers to minimize risk
that an incident like this will happen again.
Again, thanks for your patience while we dealt with the situation in
what we deemed the most safe and cautionary way.
