OCAD Scholarship Benefit

An Exhibition of Football Art -Jogo Bonito Gitoni:

May 12 to June 16, 2006
Public Opening Reception: Friday, May 12, 2006, 7 to 11 pm

In the lead up to the thrilling Soccer World Cup, three OCAD alumni
(Miklos Legrady '91; Paul Aloisi '03 and Eva Lewarne '84) are among
eight Canadian artists invited by Nike to create a portrait of
soccer culture. The artists, representing each of the Nike 8 World
Cup Qualifying National Teams, used as top-rated Gitoni tables to
tell a selected soccer team's story in the discipline of Joga Bonito
(Beautiful Play).

Transforming the Gitoni tables, the eight installation artists,
employing disciplines as wide-ranging as visual installation arts,
mixed media, computer and digital art, photography, fibre arts, metal
arts and sculpture, have created pieces of art that still retain the
functionality of the table. When these fabulous Gitoni tables are
publicly auctioned, all proceeds will be donated to the Ontario
College of Art & Design to create the Joga Bonito Bursary for
students. The artists and their teams are:

Miklos Legrady (Croatia)
Paul Aloisi (USA)
Eva Lewarne (Australia)
Pablo Mazo (Netherlands)
ethany Davidson (Korea)
Carl Cassell (Brasil)
Lukas Geronimas/Niall McClelland (Portugal)
Gregory Robins (Mexico)

The art, the game, the thrilling excitement of Nike 8 World Cup
is on public exhibition sat.
