Phrase.art, is a net art project that links words and images using various internet-based networks. These networks include google image search, email, various web based discussion boards, websites such as the facebook and friend/peer word of mouth.

The star of the show is google image search, "the most comprehensive image search on the web". Their database has a total of 1,187,630,000 images. Type in just about any word or simple phrase and google image will retrieve something. Often the results are completely off the mark, somewhat ironic, or just plain funny. When you submit a phrase to our project, it retrieves the first result from google image search. Sometimes nothing comes up, or often the link is broken. But such is the nature of a network, transient, ever-changing and sometimes unreliable - especially when dealing with the internet.

The website is a composition of all of the submissions we have received. One of the most important networks involved here is getting people from all sorts of backgrounds to add to our database. Without users, the networks we have linked together are virtually worthless.

Thanks!
