Tech help please

Hi.

A friend of mine has been alerted that he will be sent into the Iraq region
as a Captain in the U.S. Army reserve.

He wants me to help him set up a portable broadcast system while he is
serving his 18 month tour in Iraq.
He is in the process of getting a G4 powerbook and a dv cam.

The big question is:

What sort of gear will he need to purchase to be able to connect and ftp
from southwest Asia and Baghdad,Iraq in particular.

Can he get a sat-mobile?

What are the CNN guys using?

Currently, I do not know. I just found out about this two days ago.

He is set to leave for desert training on the 5th of January.
Time is of the essence.

It would be great to have some sort of feed from the field.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Lee

My cousin is stationed with a reserve unit near Turkey's border, and they have daily access to satellite services, including internet. I don't know if that would be fast enough to use in conjunction with the DV cam and powerbook to send segments back.

Sorry I don't know more.
