Assistant or Associate Professor, Foundations in Art & Design (Tenure-track)

Job Summary/Responsibilities:
LSU School of Art seeks a versatile artist capable of working across traditional studio art disciplinary lines to provide leadership in the coordination and development of its foundations program. Candidate will: provide vision and oversight for program development and foster collaborative partnerships with faculty in all of the school's concentrations; be involved in student recruitment; be involved in student mentoring; improve accreditation data reporting systems; increase program quality, effectiveness and efficiency; teach a range of courses that address both conceptual and practical issues as well as creative and critical thinking.

Position teaches introductory courses in Art & Design, intermediate to senior level undergraduate courses in one or more areas of studio art practice, and graduate (MFA-level) seminars; coordinates curricular aspects of foundations program in collaboration with faculty from all studio art areas; leads graduate teaching preparation seminar.

Required Qualifications:
Master in Fine Arts (MFA) or equivalent degree, professional graduate degree, or equivalent professional experience in an area of studio art practice; successful teaching experience; evidence of creation of high quality work in a studio art discipline and ongoing research is required.

Desired Qualifications:
Ability to teach a general course in art appreciation; encourage interactive classroom learning and student research; experience with time-based media.
