New Media Faculty Position at Purchase College

Purchase College, SUNY seeks to hire a tenor-track assistant professor working in
digital multimedia with a broad understanding of both contemporary media
arts and computer technologies to join our New Media program beginning in the Fall 2003 semester.
New Media was formed to take advantage of the strengths of Purchase College as home to
conservatories in Art and Design, Music, and Theatre Arts and Film as well as a small liberal arts college with strong programs in mathematics/computer science, anthropology and media studies. The 4,000 student college is located 30 miles north of NYC. Candidate must have a record of training and
/or professional practice in at least two of new media areas represented in our curriculum (visual arts, audio/music, video, Internet, interactive programming). Teaching will include lower-level required courses,
upper-level electives and participation in the college general education program. Candidate will be expected to serve as a student advisor, guide students to define and produce senior projects, provide curricular leadership in the new media program and establish connections in the new media community that lead to student internships and jobs. Applicants should be able to teach the use of hands-on applications for high-level creative, professional and intellectual purposes in a sophisticated computer environment. Terminal degree in field completed or pending is required.
