October sees the opening of the twonotten Digital Arts Festival in Southampton, UK

The twonotten Digital Arts Festival is the first of its kind in The South and will give visitors a chance to see how contemporary artists use new technologies to inspire and create exciting visual arts and performance.  Work on show will include: video / installation / print / performance / virtual sculpture / interactive / illustration / animation / electronic audio / computer based music

The Bargate Monument Gallery will be the hub of the festival and will host an exhibition showcasing interactive, screen and print based work, with other festival events taking place in fringe venues around the city. Artists exhibited at the Bargate Monument Gallery include:

Maverick London based digital design collective Blinkink who will be showing a range of their work from their digital shorts and adverts to music promos for Bjork, Kaiser Chiefs and Basement Jaxx

Elizabeth Clarke, digital audio work ‘24/25’, Kenneth Kirschner’s evolving indeterminate music composition generated live by a computer, and Simon Whetham ‘A Dark Light’ digital audio piece.

Illustrator James Roper’s digitally created ‘Anime Abstracts’ and Guy Stauber’s pop art inspired ‘Stardust’ digital illustrations.

Julian Konczak digital print and animation ‘25-Urban’ , Anthony Head’s interactive digital sculpture ‘Metamophosis 2’ Jeremy Gardiner & Anthony Head’s ‘Purbeck Light Years’ three dimensional

Warren Garland’s ‘Untitled’ digital video , Kenneth A Huff’s calming digital animation ‘Contemplations: 2005.2’ and Geska Helena Andersson & Robert Brecevic ‘Kids on the Slide’ digital video film installation

Karen Reed uses digital video mobile technology in her film about the generation gap and Richard Vickers is also hijacking mobile technology in his net art project ‘15 x 15’ giving visitors to the exhibition a chance to be famous for 15 seconds by adding their own video clips to his installation.

The Bargate Monument Gallery is open on Wednesday, Thursday & Friday 11am - 6pm and
Saturday & Sunday 12pm - 5pm. The gallery is open for viewing by appointment on Monday & Tuesday. Entrance is free.

twonotten Digital Arts Festival - Fringe Events

twonotten are pleased to announce a series of Fringe events which are running alongside the exhibition at venues around Southampton.

International DJ James Zabelia will be hosting a Digital Music Night at the Orange Rooms on Thursday 30 November

The Nuwave artist collaboration presents their latest sketchbook exhibition and will be taking over Lizard lounge and Apartment 26 on 23 October

Ocean Pixel will be screening contemporary digital animation and running a Flash animation workshop at Hanger Farm Arts Centre on Wednesday 25 October

Active Artists Digital Film Forum present digital shorts plus a surprise screening at Allsorts Physcic Cafe, on Saturday 4 November
