The poetry in being over-informed and overwhelmed. The absurd beauty found within a didactic understanding of the world. The blur of passing concepts and opinions and conflicting viewpoints. The subdivided human expression. The individual response to such perceived nonsense.
In celebration of his book of short writings entitled, Episodic Attempts for Interim Respect, Sean Ripple has put together a reading and video performance that he would like for you to experience. Stories, essays, ruminations and videos come together to create a read that is similar to that of a news program. But without advertising dollar crowding the show, you have something much more personal and strange.
When: August 12th 2006
Where: Brooklyn Fireproof http://www.BrooklynFireProof.com
With: Chris Leo and his Vague Angels
Stay tuned to http://www.BrooklynFireProof.com for details related to time of the performance…
Sean Ripple is a multimedia artist/writer/musician from Austin, TX. Working from an uninformed/self-taught perspective gives him the freedom to explore all forms of creative expression. Sometimes called amateurish, his work is impulsive and improvisational in nature.
Sean's paintings, drawings and videos have exhibited at Arthouse, Gallery Lombardi, Progress Coffee, Harvard Square, streets and walls around the world and may be seen on these websites:
As a musician, Sean has spent the last five years as the vibraphonist/percussionist for The American Analog Set. Playing the drums since the age of 12, he will always tell you that he considers himself a drummer first and foremost.
His writings have been published by Siglamag.com, Getunderground.com, .410.com (now defunct) and Penny-Ante.
He hopes that one day he will be able to quit his job as an administrative assistant at an accounting office, affording him the time to work exclusively on his art projects.
