art.tech

art.tech is a 5-day festival of art, performance, sound, workshops, demos and lectures. It focuses on cutting-edge artistic experiments created with, related to and about technology. Parties interested in participating can and should propose:
•Workshops
•Demos
•Art installations
•Sound installations
•Performances
•Talks
•Interactive experiences
•Games
•Experimentation is our organizing principle. Please surprise and delight us by suggesting something not listed above.

Expansions of these categories are encouraged. Partnerships with organizations/corporations/collectives are welcome. Open source principles are our guidestar. Ideally over the course of the 5 days the inner workings of every project onsite will be explained and/or demonstrated in some way.

This 5-day exhibition and event series is open to work in all media including: video, installation, painting, sculpture, drawing, photography, sound/audio, performance, social practice projects and interventions, games, web-based projects and hybrid forms. Site specific, virtual and offsite project proposals are welcome. Installations can be permanent or temporary. Workshops & demos could potentially take place at any time over the 5 days.

Deadline for entries: Received by 5PM, Wednesday, July 29, 2009.
Notification of acceptance: Early August 2009.
Exhibition runs: September 2 - 6, 2009 (W, Th, Fri - in the evening. Sat & Sun - *all freaking day*)

Application checklist:
1) Project description (1 page maximum). Must include:
•Type of project (i.e. workshop/demo/lecture/installation/etc. Please list any and all that apply)
•Medium
•Proposed time frame/duration (i.e. one hour, one afternoon/evening, etc)
•Installation requirements (Does your project require power? A projector? A table? Amplification?)

2) CVs of project’s main organizers and participants

3) Bio/Artist statement/Mission statement of individual or art collective applying (1 paragraph maximum).

4) Samples of related work*:
•Up to 5 links to project-specific web pages (please provide guidance as to which pages of the website we should review)
•Up to five jpgs (under 2 MB) on a Mac-compatible CD-ROM
OR
•Video segment(s) not to exceed five minutes long on a DVD (no PAL format, please).

* If possible, please provide images/video of actual work to be displayed. Sketches are acceptable.

The LAB will make every attempt to safeguard submitted materials, but cannot be responsible for loss or damage. Never send master slides or tapes. If you require return of materials, please provide a SASE with sufficient postage. Artists will be responsible for the transport and shipping of artworks to and from the gallery, and for installation/implementation of the project unless this is a significant hardship for the artist. In such cases, please indicate in your application what type of financial or other support would be needed to realize the proposed project.
