Calling all artists, designers, research groups, and makers! Toronto Kids Digital Festival (TKDF) is looking for the exciting projects you are making to engage kids of all ages!

Are you working on developing new fun digital interactions for kids? Have you developed a new product that will make stressful experiences for children more manageable? Are interested in examining how digital art and design are molding future generations?

TKDF is an emerging festival with the goal to celebrate technology and showcase experimental, educational, and interactive digital projects that engage children. Through digital explorations this festival encourages unique learning opportunities and experiences.

Happening March 12-14, 2019 at Open Space Gallery (OCAD University), TKDF will provide kids and parents alike the opportunity to learn from leading artists, designers, educators, and researchers who are currently building new digital worlds to expand and empower imaginations.

TKDF is seeking digital projects which utilize technology for the purpose of creating new and positive experiences to support the development of young, creative minds. With a variety of options, the festival is seeking projects that could come in the form of interactive art, experiential design, innovative research, workshops, prototypes, and more!

Possible project could include:

• Games
• Augmented Reality
• Virtual Reality
• Videos
• Coding
• Robotics
• Digital Environments
• Speculative Design
• Research Projects
• Performances
• Workshops
• Audio/ Video
• Interactive Storytelling




Eligibility:
Accepting all professional individual or group projects that engage children aged 3-13. TKDF is looking for projects that are concerned with accessible and child-centric user experiences. Projects must be safe and child friendly.


SUBMISSION INFORMATION:
-Visual examples of the project: JPEG, PNG, video, website or external online links
-CV
-Project description (150 words max)
-How does this project engage with the imagination of children through digital technology? (150 words max)
-Technical requirements
-Spatial requirements
-Submissions can contain up to 3 projects for consideration

TKDF will provide:
-Installation assistance
-On-site facilitation of your project during the festival
-Social media and marketing
-Opportunities to meet and collaborate with like-minded makers
-Projects selected will receive an honorarium

Notification of Acceptance: Artists will be notified by email by January 15th 2019, if their work has been selected to be in the festival. Accepted artists will receive exhibition details including delivery of artwork, insurance, and opening reception.

TKDF is curated by Katie Micak. She has been curating digital exhibitions and experiences for over 10 years, she is co- founder and curator of digital and game art initiative; Vector Festival. She is also an alumni from OCADU’s Digital Futures, and Transmedia at Syracuse University.
