July residency in the Taleggio valley, northern Italy

  • Location: Peghera is located about an hour north of Bergamo. It is a small village of about 200 people. There are plenty of other villages nearby, each with its unique charm. San Pellegrino, home of the famous water, is a short drive away.
  • Deadline: Feb 20 2019 at 12:02PM
The Taleggio valley is speckled with tiny villages and threaded with hiking trails. The village of Peghera is home to Taleggio cheese making, and host to an annual cheese festival in July. The four-week residency, Terra Vivente, invites artists working with social practice, food themes and/or sustainability to come and research, explore and create in a shared studio space in the centre of the village. A maximum of four artists share accommodation and studio, put on an exhibition at the end of the stay and have opportunities to participate in the local festival as well as day trips to other villages and cities, or into the mountains. This is an independent artist-run residency and cannot offer funding at this time, but can assist in getting funding by providing a letter of invitation.
