Gun Memorial Open Call

Objects and large memorials have been erected for centuries in public spaces to remind society and future generations of the cultural achievements and atrocities of the past. Usually sculptors would use long-lasting materials such as stone, marble or bronze to emphasize the perennial nature of the given historical character or event, with the noted exception of the AIDS memorial quilt. The Nation Mall in Washington, DC has been a site to memorialize presidents, heroes, and war veterans. Since 1968 more than 1.5 million people have died from guns, this is more than all the soldiers who have died in all US led wars!

Designs in all media will be considered. What would you want to see installed on the Mall? AC Institute will construct an online archive with designs as well as a published book.
