Wednesday February 11th @5:00PM program information session in the [DIAP] studio located in Shepard Hall 408 on CCNY's campus.
The [DIAP] Studio Space is housed in a unique large space which enables intellectual exchange, large scale works and installations along with 24hr access to a digital fabrication lab (laser cutter, 3D printers, inkjet and laser printers) as well as a range of recording and studio tools. Within the [DIAP] studio, there is also a small "black box", a "white cube", a small enclosed "sound space" and a presentation/projection wall.
The Curriculum consists mainly of critique classes and workshop classes as well as a TA mentorship and Thesis. Workshop classes are either topic or medium based. Medium classes focus on a tool such as video, photo, programming, performance, writing, 3D fabrication, interactivity/interfaces or similar. Topic classes focus on a specific topic like "Collection, Archive, Database", "Writing for Digital Media", "Performing for the Screen", "Labor of Love, for the Love of Labor", "Sousveillance", “Artist in the Anthropocene: Ecological & Biological Practices in Contemporary Art" and "Objects and Non-Objects".
[DIAP]'s faculty is a roster of active artists, writers and scholars further enhanced by a series of visiting artists.
Scholarships in the form of a MacBook Pro laptop are given to every accepted [DIAP] student. All accepted [DIAP] students are also automatically considered for tuition based scholarships. The selection is portfolio based and awarded by the DIAP selection committee. Additional tuition based awards and scholarships are available to continuing students.
Students at the [DIAP] MFA are at various stages in their careers and have very diverse backgrounds. Since the first class started in the Fall of 2012 the [DIAP] MFA Program has grown into a fantastic and supportive group of alumni and current students successfully operating in and contributing to an international and local art scene.
