Know Portland: The Northwest Tour

  • Type: event
  • Starts: May 22 2003 at 12:00AM
Explore the cuisine, art, and people that make Portland one of the most livable and energetic cities in the country with the Portland Center for the Advancement of Culture's (PCAC) final Know Portland event on Thursday, May 22nd. Each tour in the Know Portland series begins with dinner at a unique restaurant and culminates with a visual and performing arts experience at one of the cities flourishing independent art centers.

May's event begins at 7 p.m. with dinner at the historic Republic Cafe (222 NW 4th Avenue), serving businesses and organizations in Old Town/China Town for more than seven decades since its opening in 1930. At 9 p.m., the group will migrate to Liminal space (403 NW 5th Avenue) to catch the final showing of Alex Reagan's Three Plays Five Lives. This new work presents three different stories unfolding simultaneously with five actors traveling between three sharply raked stages. As time passes, the three plays reveal subtle connections and synchronicities between people far removed from each other in place, but deeply connected by experience. Performers include Amanda Boekelheide, Georgia Luce, Jeff Marchant, Madeleine Sanford and Patrick Wohlmut. Also on display during the event will be a group visual arts show by Portland artists.

Tickets are $40 and include dinner and the arts component. A $15 ticket includes the art segment only. All proceeds help establish the PCAC as a healthy, locally focused arts organization dedicated to supporting local artists and sustaining the cultural economy. Call or email for reservations by May 20th at 503-231-9393 or [email protected].
