CONTEMPORARY ART AND THEORY, Assistant Professor

The Department of Fine Arts of the University of Louisville invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level in Contemporary Art and Theory to be filled by July 1, 2006.

Ph.D. required by date of employment, with a record of publication or demonstrated professional capabilities. Expertise in contemporary issues and methodologies is essential. Knowledge of critical theory, new media, feminism and multiculturalism is desired.

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate art history courses, and participate in the Department’s curatorial studies program. A strong presence in the Department is expected, with active involvement in departmental activities and service, including governance, advising, and recruitment.
