Sound Off is an intimate performance series of sound art and experimental music that connects audiences with composers, musicians, artists, and one another. It takes place in a simple loft: no stage, no curtain, and little distance between performer and audience.
Nicolas Bernier creates sound performances, installations, musique concrète, live electronics, post-rock, noise improv, video art while also working with dance, theatre, moving images and interdisciplinary contexts. He lives and works in Montreal.
Joe Grimm is an interdisciplinary artist working primarily with light and sound. In his performances, sculptures, videos, and constructed situations, he appropriates material from enlightenment-era metaphysics, contemporary pop music, and the troubled legacy of minimalism – insisting always on the centrality of sheer sensory pleasure.
Sound Off is made possible with support from Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, NYC Department of Cultural Affairs, Harvestworks and 16 Beaver Group.
