We are pleased to invite you to Shifting Sensorium, a group exhibition that explores shifts in meaning, representation and experience in art that is perceived through different non-visual senses.  What new languages can be conceived when we focus instead on the other senses: olfactory, gustatory, tactile, haptic, and aural to break free from the visual representation that functions within the image or behind the lens?[/p]

The opening reception for the exhibit will take place at 319 Scholes in Brooklyn, NY on Thursday, May 26, 2011 from 6:30pm to midnight. The exhibit will be on view throughout the weekend until May 29, 2011.[/p]

Participating Artists: Yonatan Ben-Simhon, Mercedes Blasco, Matt Ganucheau, Manuela Garreton, Yin Ho, Jack Kalish, Marko Manriquez, Eric Mika, Don Miller, Geetha Pedapati, Kimi Spencer, Saraswathi Subbarman, Felisia Tandiono, Alex Vessels[/p]

The work by these artists propose to open a dialogue that focuses on the experiential process (rather than focus on the object) and to question a pedagogical bias centered around the visual sense. What are the artistic possibilities for re-materializing and translating a project from one sense into another?[/p]
