Join us for the opening night reception of I Live Here:SF at SOMArts Cultural Center. I Live Here:SF is an ongoing, open invitation for San Francisco residents to enjoy, participate in and share the many facets of life in this city with each others and the world at large.

Julie Michelle's photographic portrait and storytelling series enables the public to share the spirit and fascinating layers of this city through the words and faces of those who live here. Beginning this project in March 2009, this will be the first presentation of the project since its inception.

Over 170 portraits of the subjects who have participated will be on display, including excerpts from their personal stories. This exhibition will highlight a collection of photographic wall pieces along with large-scale sculptural installations. Also included are works by collaborating San Francisco artist, Chris Rusak. Using text, Rusak expands the vision of the I Live Here:SF project by manipulating participants’ stories to demonstrate the inner structure of the city’s collective experience. His printmaking is a metaphor for the story-collecting process of photography.

In the gallery’s video annex space, I Live Here:SF will showcase Rick Prelinger’s Lost Landscapes of San Francisco 4, selections from the historic Prelinger Film Archive.

Silvi Alicvar and The Poetry Store (an I Live Here:SF portrait subject) will be onsite to create custom poetry: http://thepoetrystore.net/.

The i Live Here: SF exhibition will continue to be open from November 6 - November 30. Gallery hours are Tuesday - Friday, 12 - 7pm, Saturday 12 - 5pm.
