Olga Ast & Julia Druk present Fleeing from Absence, in which they explore the nature & interpretations of time as it is seen & experienced in our world.

Matvei Yankelevich reads from Boris by the Sea; Today I Wrote Nothing: The Selected Writings of Daniil Kharms & newly reprinted Vvedensky: The Gray Notebook.

Olga screens her award-winning short films ‘A Tale’, dedicated to Daniil Kharms, & ‘Space TRAPs’.

Matvei Yankelevich is the author of “Boris by the Sea” & “The Present Work”. His writing has appeared in Boston Review, Damn the Caesars, Fence, Open City, Tantalum, Typo, Zen Monster, & others. His translations of Daniil Kharms were collected in “Today I Wrote Nothing: The Selected Writings of Daniil Kharms”. He recently edited a portfolio of Contemporary Russian Poetry & Poetics for the magazine Aufgabe. He teaches at Hunter College & Columbia University, & edits & designs books for Ugly Duckling Presse.

Olga Ast is an interdisciplinary conceptual artist who investigates the connections between space, time & information & their impact on everything we find around us. Ast has presented her work at the Kloone 4000 International Project, Rutgers & Goettingen Universities, Philoctetes Center & NYC Future Salon. In 2009, she organized & curated the ArcheTime Conference & Exhibition in New York dedicated to exploring artistic, academic & scientific concepts of time. More at www.archetime.net.

Julia Druk is a free-range media critic & information architect currently working for Barnes & Noble.com. Her writing has appeared in Musings Against a Train Station & ROM: Romance Languages Magazine; her photographic works have been exhibited at the Yale Women’s Center, Yale Cabaret, Ithaca College & the BMCC.
