The Film and Media Studies and Studio Art Department of Dartmouth College are hiring a Digital Arts Lab Specialist to work in the Black Family Visual Arts Center.

The Digital Arts Lab Specialist manages and maintains the digital media software and hardware for classes taught in the Digital Arts Lab in the Black Family Visual Arts Center. The Specialist manages and maintains the Digital Arts Lab, and supports SART and F&MS faculty, students, and staff working in the Digital Arts Lab, regardless of whether or not the students are enrolled in regular courses. In collaboration with SART and F&MS faculty, staff, and students, this position assists with a wide range of media-related services in the Digital Arts Lab. Position requires: in-depth knowledge of audiovisual, multimedia hardware and software ability to train faculty and students in the use of a wide range of multimedia technologies, ability to work effectively with all segments of the SART and F&MS. academic community, strong communication skills; ability to work independently with high degree of initiative, excellent computer skills, both Macintosh and Windows format, knowledge of copyright regulations and their application, willingness to work irregular weekly schedules, some evening and weekend hours, familiarity with arts and humanities and capacity to translate and innovate emerging technological demands. Minimum of two years experience required and Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.

Position Purpose:
The Digital Arts Lab Specialist manages and maintains the digital media software and hardware for classes taught in the Digital Arts Lab in the Black Family Visual Arts Center. The Specialist manages and maintains the Digital Arts Lab, and supports SART and F&MS faculty, students, and staff working in the Digital Arts Lab, regardless of whether or not the students are enrolled in regular courses. Skills & Knowledge:
-In-depth knowledge of audiovisual, multimedia hardware and software
-Ability to train faculty and students in the use of a wide range of multimedia technologies.
-Ability to work effectively with all segments of the SART and F&MS academic community.
-Strong communication skills; ability to work independently with high degree of initiative.
-Excellent computer skills, in both Macintosh and Windows format.
-Knowledge of copyright regulations and their application.
Willingness to work irregular weekly schedules, some evening and weekend hours.
-Familiarity with arts and humanities.
-Capacity to translate and innovate emerging technological demands

Key Accountabilities:
-Designs and implements programming for faculty, staff and students within the Digital Arts Lab.
-Trains faculty, students, and staff on software available in the Digital Arts Lab.
-Collaborates with faculty, students, and staff with all phases of multimedia projects, including research, production, post–production, and publication.
-Provides support on designated nights and weekends for special activities.
-Technical Support
-Manages software and hardware within the Digital Arts Lab, including installing, updating, and troubleshooting applications and keeping scheduled hours within each department.
-Maintains the inventory of hardware, software, licenses and instructional materials.
-Recommends potential new initiatives and directions.
-Oversees the budget for the lab, including the purchase of supplies and the research and purchase of replacement equipment.
-Education, Training, and Outreach
-Teaches Digital Arts Lab workshops for students, faculty, and staff on the use of digital media software applications and equipment.
-Produces instructions and video tutorials for the use of Digital Arts Lab software and facilities.
-Trains, manages, and coordinates student technicians.

Minimum Experience:
Two year of relevant experience.

Minimum Education:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience.
