The School of Art and Visual Studies at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in photography at the Assistant Professor level to begin August 2014. Applicants should demonstrate a high level of commitment to their artistic practice through a developing and established exhibition record that indicates a strong engagement with photography. They should be capable of inspired teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Proficiency in both digital and film-based photographic technologies is required. Candidates should have a thorough knowledge of the history and theory of photography as well as an ability to engage students in contemporary critical discourses associated with art making.

The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester and work independently with advanced undergraduate and graduate students. Additional responsibilities include: serving on committees for both BFA and MFA students working in a variety of media; helping to operate and maintain the photography area (both digital labs and darkrooms); and assisting with curriculum and program development. Candidates will also be expected to provide appropriate service to the department, college, university and community.

Qualified applicants must have completed an MFA by August 2014. Preference may be given to applicants with teaching experience beyond the graduate level (two-years of post-graduate teaching experience is desirable).
