Fraenkel Gallery is looking for a new member for the digital department starting January 2014. The digital department manages all digital workflows and assets of the gallery. As such, the appropriate candidate has a wide range of experience in both general IT and computer usage as it relates to arts organizations and an expert knowledge of photographic and archival techniques. Additionally, the digital department acts as the liaison between various third-party consultants and contractors to constantly innovate and improve existing technological systems.

Roles and responsibilities include:
-Maintains a digital archive of the gallery inventory and supports staff on their requests from this archive.
-Produces documentation of works in the gallery (scanning and photographing)
-Maintains computers, printers, scanners, Xerox machine, and telephones with support from external technicians when needed
-Works with designers and gallery staff to constantly improve the public presence of the gallery in both printed and web-based materials
-Troubleshoots any technological issues in the gallery
-Manages several interns and leads them through various long-term projects

Responsibilities of the Department:
-Expert-level Mac OS knowledge and familiarity with Apple devices
-Adobe Creative Suite
-Digital reproduction
-Wordpress
-Basic IT trouble-shooting with software and hardware
-Knowledge of Epson printers and scanners
-Expert-level knowledge of Google apps and e-mail/calendar system
-Able to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize incoming requests
-Experience in an arts organization or related field

Preferred Skills and Experience:
-Filemaker Pro or other database systems
-Familiarity with various hard-wired and cloud back-up systems
-Basic knowledge of Network Administration
-Experience managing and/or operating IP phone systems
-Knowledge of print-production and pre-press work
-Basic design for print and web

This position is part-time with the potential for growth. This is a two-person department that requires exceptional communication and the ability to share projects.
