Adopting architectural concepts presented by Christopher Alexander and the Center for Environmental Structure in the late 1970s, Web Patterns builds upon Web Production 1 and 2 in considering and manipulating a network of common modules that are employed in web production. Alexander's "A Pattern Language" has been a popular conceptual resource for Object Oriented Programming through the last two decades. In this course, design patterns will be applied to the development of Mobile Web Apps employing HTML5, CSS and JavaScript. Following a series of introductory exercises, students will design and produce self-directed desktop or mobile web applications.

This is an advanced course, students are expected to have experience in building web sites, including the following:

HTML - Structure
CSS - Design
JavaScript - Behavior
PHP - Logic (basic understanding)
MySQL - Storage (basic understanding)
