National and international artists and curators are encouraged to submit proposals to exhibit work in all mediums (including, but not limited to: video and film, new media, installation, sculpture, performance, painting and social practice). While proposals may include work made in the last three years, 1708 Gallery strongly encourages proposals for new or developing projects and bodies of work. The call is open from October 1 - October 31, 2013.

ABOUT 1708

1708 Gallery exists to present exceptional new art. 1708 is committed to providing opportunities for artistic innovation for emerging and established artists and to expanding the understanding and appreciation of new art for the public.

1708 Gallery's annual exhibition season runs from September through August and consists of up to eight 6-week-long exhibitions featuring national and international emerging and established artists, as well as expanded formats of art- and exhibition-making such as the Monster Drawing Rally and the annual one-night, outdoor exhibition of light-based contemporary art, InLight Richmond.

The online application consists of up to 10 total digital images and/or video clips, an Exhibition Proposal and Artist's Statement (each 500 words max), and a CV upload (.doc or PDF files only, please), and a $20 application fee.
