Many Studios Graduate Residency Programme 2013 - Selected by Jon Burgerman & Toby Paterson

The Many Graduate Residency Programme - formerly Ironbbratz Graduate Residency Programme - is now in it’s third year.

The Environment:
Set within the Many Studios complex; four residents are selected annually to work within a dedicated studio and production space. The space is shared equally between the residents, with each taking a self-designated work area. The flexible layout is intended to suit the needs of individual approaches and encourage awareness of the immediate community. The studio comes with 24-hour access and all-inclusive utilities including heating and WiFi. (See floor-plan attached)

The Residents:
Many, as suggested by our name, encourage and promote multi-disciplinary and collaborative approaches including, but not limited to, fine arts practitioners. We welcome applications from 2011,2012 and 2013 graduates working in any creative field with an interest in growing and testing their creative practice.

The Structure:
The Many Graduate Residency Programme runs between September 2013 - May 2014 and includes:

Monthly development meetings with the in-house Many team;
Bi-monthly development meetings with other practice appropriate creative professionals (selected by resident);
Bi-monthly critical peer review sessions with the in-house Many team, studio tenants and invited guests;
Greatly reduced studio rent, of £60 pcm, including all utilities and the chance to work at the heart of the city. Studios come with 24-hour access, free WiFi and are a great way to work professionally within the budget of a recent graduate;
Assisted public outcome of each resident’s individual practice, including promotional assistance;
One month out-of-house creative work experience, tailored to the resident’s individual needs;
In-house assistance with forging wider national and international connections.

The residency will conclude with the staging of individually tailored public outcomes in May 2014. Being reflective of each participant’s practice and wishes the public outcome stage has no traditional restrictions.

The Theme:
This year’s application process embraces the additional requirement of a thematic response, ‘Competition’. Although this theme will not in any way exhaust the direction of the programme we are interested in hearing individual reflections on this theme. We urge applicants to consider widely its possible interpretations and context.

The selection panel for this session includes special guests Jon Burgerman and Toby Paterson, alongside the Many directorial and communications team.

All completed application forms must be returned to [email protected] by 5pm on Monday 1st July 2013.
