Open Call for Installation & Video work, Beacons Festival, UK

Beacons Festival, the cutting-edge music and arts event taking place in the heart of the Yorkshire countryside in the UK, is seeking creative proposals from artists for installation work, workshops, performances and video pieces to appear at this years’ event from 16 - 18 August 2013.

Beacons is a forward-thinking festival brought to you by a collective of tastemakers who, for years, have been bringing the best music to reputable Northern venues. But Beacons is not just about the music! Every year we feature the work of an exciting range of artists from across the North and beyond.

There's just one week left to submit proposals to this year's call, closing midnight Sunday 28th April.

Be it installation, sculpture, performance piece, spoken word, creative workshop or land art – we invite proposals for anything that has the potential to delight festival goers of all ages through all of their senses.

This year we also have a special call for filmmakers, animators and motion graphic designers to submit or create mind-blowing visuals for projection around the Beacons site. If you’re a filmmaker, animator or video artist this is a fantastic opportunity to get your work seen on a grand scale.

This year our selection panel will be giving particular precedence to projects that fall within one of the arts programme themes:

- Frontiers of the Future: projects that utilise or explore new technology, scientific concepts, and visions of the future!

- Interactivity: we’re looking for work that engages with and involves our festival-goers.

- Site-specificity: pieces that engage with and explore the festival environment, physically, socially, geographically and historically.

Support for artists ranges from festival tickets and travel costs, to a number of small bursaries to realise your ideas and towards production costs. Beacons 2013 will provide a platform to showcase work to over 6000 revellers.
