The Lower East Side Business Improvement District, in partnership with ArtHere.org, is looking for artists to submit creative proposals for a History Tribute Fence to be located in the newly opened LES Delancy St Public Plazas on Delancey Street between Essex and Clinton Streets, at the foot of the Williamsburg bridge. The South side of these plazas are bordered by 200' worth of fences where this installation will take place.

We are requesting that artists come up with ideas that honor the history of the Lower East Side, by paying special tribute to the cultural institutions that pepper the area (Tenement Museum, Eldridge Street Museum, etc.). Anyone can respond to the proposal (galleries and students included) and deadline for submission is April 15th. We are offering a $5,000 stipend for this project.

The location of this installation is especially noteworthy since it is the point of passage between Manhattan and Brooklyn. It is the last thing that people will lay their eyes on before leaving Manhattan and 200,000 sets of eyes pass through this area daily.
