Digital Animation Faculty Position The Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design, College of the Arts, The Ohio State University, Columbus Campus

Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in the area of Digital Animation. We seek an innovative professional committed to being part of a creative and engaging collaborative team of artists, designers, scientists, faculty and students working in a research environment focused on animation in traditional time-based media and in new media art practices including interactivity, virtual environments, game art, installation and performance. This is a joint appointment with the Advanced Computing Center for the Arts and Design (ACCAD) and an appropriate department within the College of the Arts. Rank and salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position begins September 2008.

Responsibilities: Position requires 1) collegial work on continuing development of an undergraduate program in digital animation and subsequent teaching within the undergraduate program, 2) advising graduate students in the Digital Animation and Interactive Media MFA, 3) teaching at the graduate level in the interdisciplinary, collaborative environment of ACCAD and the development new courses based around the applicant’s area of expertise.

Position Requirements: Applicants must have a strong record of creative and/or scholarly activities and hold an advanced degree in an art or design field, or in a related subject area. University-level teaching experience is desired.

ACCAD (accad.osu.edu) is an interdisciplinary research center that provides collaborative opportunities for faculty and graduate students interested in art and technology. The focus of research and academic activities at ACCAD centers on computer animation and related media. ACCAD is one of eight units, (ACCAD, Art, Art Education, Art History, Dance, Design, Music, Theatre) within the College of the Arts (arts.osu.edu).
