The Department of Art & Art History at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln invites applications for two positions of Assistant or Associate Professor of Art in Visual Communication and Graphic Design. Applicants should demonstrate a vision for a comprehensive and rigorous curriculum that includes print, web, interactive and emerging media with a focus on preparing students to succeed professionally and to be technically, aesthetically, and creatively prepared to innovate in these areas. Associate Professor rank commensurate with experience.
Responsibilities:
Develop and lead a visual design curriculum for students at the undergraduate and graduate levels which takes an expanded view of visual communication and which recognizes the importance of concept generation, ideation and storytelling as part of visual communication in a wide variety of media. The successful candidate will demonstrate an eagerness to apply innovative learning strategies in the classroom including online and/or blended instruction, and help build cross-disciplinary connections with other programs across the university. Teach courses in visual communication and design, one of which may be photography Typical course load is two courses per semester plus supervision of graduate students. Maintain an active professional/creative research practice and participate in Department and University service including committee work, advising and supervising internships.
