THE PROGRAM: ART AT CITY HALL
The San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries (SFAC Galleries) and PhotoAlliance invite you to submit images of your work to be considered for the exhibition Take Me Away. The San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries’ Art at City Hall program began in 1996 with the goal of bringing artwork with a social conscience into the seat of government. Sixteen years later, Art at City Hall has matured into a premiere program for the exhibition of photography by local, national and international artists.

THE EXHIBITION: Take Me Away
The San Francisco Arts Commission Galleries and PhotoAlliance are inviting submissions of photography that depict images of escape and escapism. When you step away from your day-to-day, where do you go? Where do you escape or where do you dream of escaping? It could be somewhere just around the corner, or beyond the city limits. You might instead escape to a fantastical place that manifests in your mind or in virtual space. We’re interested in knowing where you go, or would like to go, and are calling for images that will also inspire viewers to consider their own relationship with escapism.
The exhibition will highlight the works of three “featured” artists: David Gardner, Rebecca Horne, and Alice Shaw alongside 40 – 60 works that will be selected as a result of this call for submissions.

THE LOCATION
The City Hall ground floor exhibition space can accommodate up to 100 photographs. The jury will choose between three and eight images from each selected artist. Please do not submit less than three images. There will be no stipend for selected artists.
Please be conscious of the fact that the exhibition space at City Hall is a multi-use area that acts as a busy intersection for City employees, tourists, children and arts patrons. It is both a municipal cross roads and a place where individual concerns may be expressed. Please note that exhibited works will not be insured.
