Squeaky Wheel’s International Media Artist & Filmmaker Residency is directed towards mid- career experimental filmmakers and media-makers. The purpose of this residency is to provide time and space for artists to continue an ongoing creative investigation and produce new work. Residents are encouraged to experiment and to learn or hone a new skill useful for their practice.
This 4 week Residency offers access to Squeaky Wheel facilities, which include a Mac computer lab with Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, Max/MSP/Jitter, AfterEffects, Isadora, DVD Studio Pro, Macromedia Flash, and more; Bolex 16mm & Super 8 cameras, Super 8 Telecine, Steenbeck 16mm flatbed editor, and film hand-processing facilities; HD cameras, lights, microphones, and other media production equipment. For a full list please see www.squeaky.org/equipment.
The artist-in-residence will receive accommodations, travel, and a $1000 stipend. Terms of the residency require the artist to use our facilities in creating at least one new work (or work in progress), to premiere the new work in our 60-seat micro-cinema and/or installation gallery, and to teach a community workshop relevant to the artist's own creative investigations.
Applicants must reside outside of the Western New York region. Artists living in WNY can apply for Squeaky’s Regional Artist Access Residency. The selected artist will be notified in mid-spring and must fulfill the terms of the residency during a one month period between May and August 2013.
