The College of Communication Arts & Sciences at Michigan State University invites applications for a fixed term faculty position in the area of 3D Graphics and Animation. We seek a strong conceptual and creative media artist with an extensive portfolio, teaching experience, and interdisciplinary experience. The new faculty member will join an enthusiastic, multidisciplinary faculty and a strong program in the design and development of media, including games, film, television, web, visualization, and mobile applications.

The successful candidate will be expected to gain visibility through juried competitions and venues (peer reviewed exhibitions; online or broadcast distribution, conference presentations; awards). In addition, candidates will teach in our undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as advise graduate students on projects and theses. Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have extensive hands-on experience in 3D Graphics and Animation, preferably with a graduate degree (M.A., M.F.A., or Ph.D.) in a related field. An electronic portfolio of creative work and expertise in using technology to produce innovative media products at a high level are required.

The minimum qualifications for an Instructor is a M.A. and the minimum qualifications for an Ast/Asc/Full Professor is a PhD. Rank will be commensurate with degree and experience.

The College of Communication Arts & Sciences is home to a dynamic, interdisciplinary faculty internationally renowned for its high level creative work and cutting-edge research. The college has recently created a multidisciplinary creative curriculum and artistic community called Media Sandbox, with students and faculty from 3 departments working and creating together. Projects involving cross-disciplinary teams are actively pursued and encouraged. The College is home to more than 3500 students and five academic departments, including the Department of Advertising and Public Relations; Communication; Communicative Sciences & Disorders, Journalism, and; Telecommunication, Information Studies & Media, and the Media Sandbox.
