Studio Manager for an interdisciplinary multimedia artist

The ideal candidate should have background in the contemporary art world, administrative experience, excellent communication skills and be able to multitask at a high level of responsibility at a fast-paced working environment.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

* Maintaining all studio traffic- emails, phone calls, mail and external communications

* Office organization including ordering and keeping an inventory of materials and supplies

* Manage studio and artist’s agenda

* Act as liaison between all clients and professional art contacts including museums, galleries and advisors

* Oversee studio bookkeeping including bill payment, maintenance costs and rent

* Supervising documentation such as budgets, inventory lists, contracts, invoices etc.

* Supervision of interns and assistants; be able to disseminate tasks appropriately and accurately

* Research art market as needed to prepare Artist and studio staff for upcoming meetings and projects

* Coordinate exhibitions including planning site visits, having models fabricated, confirming dimensions of spaces and access points, developing artwork inventory, coordinating Artist’s participation in press events and preparing guest lists for opening events. Work with Production on planning exhibition installation and de-installation. Work with Project Coordinator or equivalent at galleries and institutions on handling day-to-day planning, scheduling and problem-solving.

* Function as the point person at the studio for production of museum and gallery catalogs. Coordinate Artist’s input and final approval on images, interviews, texts and design.

* Organize all travel arrangements for Artist and other staff as needed for site-visits, installations and openings.

* Prepare and track gallery consignment forms for all works leaving the studio.

* Coordinate with Production and Accounting so that all works in production can be invoiced for production costs.

Requirements:

The successful candidate will be extremely organized, detail-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills. Sensitivity toward confidentiality, applying discretion, and remaining calm under pressure are essential. Effective verbal and writing skills as well as experience with proven experience in the contemporary art field or a related field.
