The Home Ideal Show: Call for submissions

Eshoda Arts present The Home Ideal Show: an exhibition at the Hotbath Gallery and Walcot Chapel, Bath in March 2004; and online from March 2004.

The exhibition will explore the domestic spaces we inhabit and how significant they are to us in our memories and our daily life. The exhibition will include fragments of a home environment which the audience will be able to interact with. These will be integrated with wall mounted pieces, sculptures and installations. For example: within the gallery a living room will be created, consisting of a sofa and chairs, coffee table, TV and video. The TV would give the opportunity to show a series of films by different artists using the above themes. People will be able to sit on the sofa and watch TV or look at contemporary poetry or photography in magazines on the coffee table or in books on nearby shelves. Engaging with the audience in a familiar, everyday way but presenting them with something new.

New Media work will be displayed on the website and on a computer within one of the home environments. Preferably the work should be interactive. However, sound or video work that can be exhibited online is also welcomed. This area of the exhibition is being curated by Ed Holroyd. The work must deal with the themes of home and domesticity, as opposed to ideas of home in the broader sense.

If the work is below 1MB in size it should be emailed to [email protected]. For any file larger than this, please send an extract or URL for the website where this work can be viewed. There are no limits on file types at this stage, but please bare in mind that the content of the website should be available to as many people as possible.
