In such times as these ART MATTERS More!
In the aftermarth of the earthquake/tsunami a number of 3331's
residence artists have become unable to undertake their residency term
and we now have accommodation, studio and presentation space availiable
for May and July this year. For many it may seem that Japan is a
difficult place to develop research and art work at this time, but we
would like to stress that at such a time art becomes even more
important and as artists and creative practitioners we should consider
what we can positively contribute in response to this situation.
If you are an artist or creative who feels the need to come to Japan
at this time and lend your creative skills towards the recovery effort
we would very much welcome your presence. For information about our
residence faclities please refer to the following link. Please note
that all rental fees stipulated may be further negotiated with special
discount.

As part of our current project "Arts Action 3331" we are opening up
our main gallery space to artists, organizers and fundraisers for free
in order to raise awareness and gain support for the earthquake relief
appeal. Artists who join the residence program also have the
opportunity to present their work here if it is relevant and sensitive
to the current circumstances. For information about this project please
see the following link:

3331 staff are regularly visiting the affected areas to volunteer
and are in the process of establishing an association for the creative
redevelopment of the Tohoku region. We can therefore offer advice and
support for artists wishing to make a direct contribution in these
areas.
