Art as Faith

Curated by Matt King
Editorial description Comments (0)

Certain religions exist dependent on the belief that God can only be realized through the presence of nature. In this context, certain organic artworks could be viewed as a physical manifestation of a higher power, countering the eternally persistent notion that, in order for one to possess true faith, they must believe in what they cannot see. These works, reliant on nature's processes, serve as a conversation between creations, proposing interaction among practically all things exposed through the senses. In effect, art takes on a new form of faith-based communication; not one restricted by the multitude of boundaries present in prominent religions today, but rather a direct relationship with the beliefs you ascertain through your relationship with nature. Understandably, reaction to art as faith will vary greatly. Despite this, the main ideas remain intact for all: if one wishes to know they must merely look to the source. In this case, art is treated as the foundation, the creator a creation themselves.
